Homenet

The IETF Homenet working group has developed a set of protocols that allow automatically setting up a small double-stack (IPv6 and IPv4) network. The Homenet protocols consist of:

• HNCP, a protocol that floods configuration data across the network;
• Prefix Assignment, a sub-protocol of HNCP that negociates prefixes for links;
• the Babel routing protocol, with extensions for source-specific routing;
• some optional stuff for naming and service discovery.

There are two independent implementations of the Homenet stack: hnetd, which is a mature, production quality implementation well integrated into OpenWRT, and shncpd, which is small, simple and easy to port, but only implements a subset of the Homenet stack. Please see:
